The Food Inspectorate FSSAI launched a new online platform for issuing licenses and registering food companies (FBOs) and for regulatory compliance on Saturday. 70 lakh licenses/registrations have been issued by the FSSAI online licensing platform FLRS (Food Licensing and Registration System) since 2011. Over 35 Lakhs licensees/registrants actively trade with it.
“FSSAI is launching its cloud-based, updated new online platform for food safety compliance called” Food Safety Compliance System “(FoSCoS),” said a statement from the regulatory authority. The new URL foscos.fssai.gov.in replaces the existing foodlicensing.fssai.gov.in.
The regulator said that the new FoSCoS platform is designed to provide a point for all FBO interventions in the department for all regulatory transactions.
The platform has been integrated into the mobile app and is linked to other IT platforms. FSSAI stated, “A single regulatory platform will enable an integrated food fraud response system across India and an advanced risk-based, data-driven regulatory approach. In the beginning, FoSCoS will offer a license, registration, inspection, and annual return modules.”
Food licence is mandatory for all food businesses.
